Joan DumaisJoan Dumais, Certified Divorce Lending Professional, Austin area manager for BancorpSouth Mortgage and rare native Austinite, has been lending in the Austin area for more than twenty-five years. In addition, Joan has owned and managed rental property for most of that time. In mortgage, Joan has found the perfect fit: the enjoyment of communicating directly with her wonderful customer base of more than one thousand people nationwide and structuring real estate transactions carefully and deliberately, to meet each client’s short and long-term financial goals. She stays current on government regulations and tax rulings that may affect her clients’ financial decisions. She strives to make every transaction as smooth as possible and takes the time to educate her clients so they can make their own informed decision, as to which program or product will best meet their needs. Joan has been named one of Texas Monthly’s Five Star Lenders for seven consecutive years.
Education
Joan graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor’s degree in finance and management, with a concentration in real estate. She has been licensed as a real estate sales person in Texas since 1989.
Personal
Joan loves snow skiing, water skiing and boating on Lake Austin, gardening, reading, and ocean kayaking. Widowed at an early age with children aged 12, 10 and 7, Joan has tremendous empathy with her clients that are undergoing tough transitions of their own. Every move, even one for all the best reasons, is stressful, and Joan feels that her job is to take as much of that burden from her clients as possible. She often works with clients who are going through divorce, or the loss of their spouse. She is an active member of Austin Ridge Bible Church, and a supporter of various charities, such as Mission to Mexico and World Vision. She has a son at University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, a daughter at Austin College in Sherman and another working in video game design in the Dallas area.
